How the quiz works
An educated guess, not a diagnosis.
Every answer adjusts a score from 100 using the same signals a senior estimator weighs on a real inspection: age of the roof, gutter granule buildup, attic moisture, visible shingle wear, and recent storm exposure. High scores mean nothing urgent jumps out. Low scores mean a real walk-through is overdue.
The quiz can’t see the two problems that matter most: moisture already trapped inside the decking (only a moisture meter finds that) and hail bruising invisible from the ground (only a chalk-test on the roof finds that). Treat the score as triage, a way to tell whether an inspection is due this month, this year, or in three years, not as a verdict.
If you have an active leak, obvious storm damage, a real-estate closing, or a roof over 15 years old, skip the quiz and book a free inspection. A senior estimator walks the roof, checks the attic, and delivers 20 to 60 annotated photos with a written scope.
