A Hail Damaged Leander Home
A number of severe storms in May of this year impacted the Leander area, bringing high winds and golf ball-sized hail, that caused significant damage to homes’ roofs in the area. The storm resulted in compromised shingles, damaged flashing, and other related issues consistent with hail and wind impact.
We recently inspected a beautiful home in a large Leander development that was damaged by the hail storms. And following inspection – with photo documentation and our team working side-by-side with their claims adjuster – the homeowner’s insurance company approved a full roof replacement due to the extent of the storm-related damage.

Residential Roof Replacement
To begin the reroof on this home, the site was prepared with over 4,000 square feet of protective tarp to protect all landscaping and property. This home has 48 solar panels, which had to be removed and properly stored. Then teardown began: The existing roof, gutters, and downspouts were removed down to the decking, which was inspected and repaired as needed.
In addition, during this process, our team discovered a few areas of the home’s roof that was not IRC code compliant. One relevant to a pitch slope, which could have otherwise faced water damage due to ice and snow. As well as missing flashing on two other sections of the roof, which could also lead to water damage in the underlying structure had it not be found and fixed. The homeowner was previously unaware of these issues, which we noted during inspection and updated to meet IRC code compliance during the roof replacement.
Once the underlying issues were repaired and prepped for the new roof, a new ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, an updated drip edge, as well as flashing and new pipe boots were installed. Followed by CertainTeed Landmark Class III shingles and proper ventilation, including an updated ridge vent. New seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts were added as approved by the homeowner’s insurance scope. Finally, the 48 solar panels were re-attached and our team re-established the solar monitoring system and took over existing solar warranties.
This project began at 7:00 am and the new roof was completed by 2:00 pm the same day. This included our prompt, thorough cleanup of the home and waste disposal of all materials. All work was completed to code and manufacturer specifications, and a final inspection confirmed everything met expectations. Our clients were pleased with the outcome and their new Class III shingles that are able to withstand up to 1.75″ hail, readied for Central Texas’ next storm season.
